  • Individual Psychological Support: Life Skills DOJO offers individual psychological support combining cognitive behavioural therapy, health psychology and the DNA_V model. We strive to uncover exactly what adults, children/young people aim to achieve, creating a personalised roadmap for reaching your therapeutic goals.

  • Targeted Support for Ages 5 to 18: Life Skills DOJO specialises in providing support to individuals aged between 5 and 18 years old who are experiencing anxiety. We recognise the unique challenges faced by children, teenagers, and young adults and tailor our services accordingly.

  • Adult Health Psychology Service: Life Skills DOJO collaborates closely with other medical professionals to seamlessly incorporate psychological support, foster acceptance of the condition, and tackle lifestyle adjustments necessary for individuals managing chronic health or medical conditions.

  • Clinical Supervision for trainee health psychologists and psychologists/counsellors based in schools: Dr Alexis Carey, founder of Life Skills DOJO provides applied psychology practice clinical supervision.

  • Adult ADHD Assessments: You will receive a one-on-one feedback session with Dr Alexis Carey, Chartered Psychologist to review your ADHD Assessment report. During this session, Dr Alexis Carey will discuss whether you have a diagnosis of ADHD. The report will also include personalised suggestions to enhance your well-being, leveraging your strengths, and providing additional resources and services

  • Overcoming Anxiety: Life Skills DOJO specialises in helping individuals overcome anxiety. Our proven methods and supportive environment aim to empower individuals with the tools and strategies needed to manage and conquer anxiety.

  • Improving Sleep: Quality sleep is fundamental for overall well-being. If your child or young adult is struggling with sleep difficulties, LifeSkills DOJO offers targeted support. Our strategies focus on creating a conducive environment for improved sleep habits.

  • Managing and Living with Health Conditions: Dr Alexis Carey, founder of Life Skills DOJO specialises in working with people living with chronic fatigue, pain and neuropathy. Beyond her extensive training and work experience in these area she has lived expertise in managing the symptoms of neuropathy.

  • Clinical Supervision: Provides clinical supervision to students undertaking a doctorate in Health Psychology and/or counselling students working in education settings. Dr Alexis Carey, founder of Life Skills DOJO meets the training standards required of a Chartered Psychologist to provide applied psychology practice supervision.

  • Career Coaching: Life Skills DOJO offers a free career guidance and mentorship session to aspiring psychologists (leaving certificate, A Levels, undergraduate or masters students.

What type of therapy is used at LifeSkills DOJO?

In her practice at LifeSkills Dojo, Alexis places the most importance on establishing a safe and supportive environment, ensuring children, young people and adults feel valued and empowered to share their views in a way that suits their needs, values and preferences. Leveraging Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques, Health Psychology and the DNA_V model her goal is to help children, young people and adults overcome challenges in their lives by cultivating their strengths and helping them develop a range of coping strategies, all while fostering a positive and enjoyable therapeutic experience.

Alexis incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, often referred to as CBT into her practice. This explores the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physical sensations. By gaining insight and tools to navigate these interconnections, learn to foster holistic wellbeing.

Health psychology also referred to as behavioural medicine, focuses on understanding the mind-body- social - and environment connection with our health, promoting evidence-based strategies, healthy behaviours, and empowering individuals to navigate challenges in adapting their lifestyle to improve health outcomes. By incorporating health psychology models Alexis helps enhance mental and physical wellness, ensuring a holistic approach to your overall health.

Alexis also incorporates the DNA-V model into her practice. This model, widely embraced by medical professionals, therapists, educators, and more, is lauded for its simplicity and easy-to-understand style. Rooted in Positive Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment therapy this model helps clients develop psychological flexibility by helping them identify and use their values (V) and strengths as a compass to overcome challenges.

  • Discoverer (D): Encourages trying new things and exploring different approaches to expand one's skills, resources, and social connections. This means becoming open to experimenting with different strategies to see what works best for achieving personal goals. The Discoverer role promotes a mindset of curiosity and resilience, embracing the learning opportunities that come from both success and failure.
